Whilst most of BAKTI's energies have been concentrated in looking to the needs of Malaysians, it has never failed to respond to calls for assistance from overseas. BAKTI today answered the call of help from the Pakistan flood victims. Pakistan was recently hit by the worst monsoon rain in decades, affecting some 20 million people. BAKTI raised and handed over donations to the victims of the calamitous flood in hope that it would help alleviate their pain and suffering. Some of the items donated were milk powder, wheat flour, cooking oil, biscuits, diapers, drinking water, and medicine. BAKTI thanks the donors Giant Corporation, Mydin Mohamad Holding Bhd, Lim Kok Wing University, FFM Berhad, Lion Parkson Foundation and six pharmaceutical companies for their swift and enthusiastic contribution. Datin Paduka Sri Rosmah Mansor the President of BAKTI, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, the Deputy President of BAKTI and Tun Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali the ex-President of BAKTI attended the ceremony along with many members of BAKTI. Amongst those present at the ceremony were Dato' Sri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi, Defence Minister and Masood Khalid the High Commissioner of Pakistan. The aid items were transported by RMAF aircraft at the end of the ceremony in hope that it would reach the flood relief centre in Islamabad by tomorrow night. On board the flight joining the relief mission to Islamabad were several officers from MINDEF, Wisma Putra, and the media namely TV3, RTM, Bernama, Utusan, NST and one official from Red Crescent.
